Email marketing is the perfect medium to increase traffic and sales. However, it is equally important to know when to send. What's the best day of the week for email marketing?
To increase email marketing success, make sure that your email is sent at a good time. Sending emails on Monday and Friday is not as effective as it may seem. You might want to consider sending emails on Tuesdays because these are the days where consumers tend to go online most often. Tuesdays also happen to be the day with the highest open rates for corporate emails when they're related to timely topics such as product information or sales discount promotions.
Statistically, Tuesday has consistently been shown to be superior in terms of click-through rates (CTR), revenue per thousand impressions (RPM), and conversion rate than any other day of the week.
This study on 6 million emails received by customers in an opt-in email database from Marketing Sherpa shows that Tuesday's click-through rate (CTR) is 16% higher than any other weekday. As soon as you send your first email campaign, your subscriber can either open it or delete it without even reading it. Of course, most people will sort through their daily mail and look at what may interest them, but some might simply go into the junk mail folder if they're not interested. Tuesdays have a higher CTR means more customers will read your emails because it is less likely to end up in the junk mailbox and more likely to be sorted into their main mailbox.
The fact is, Tuesdays have the highest average monthly CTR and revenue per thousand impressions (RPM) for corporate emails related to timely topics such as product information or sales discount promotions. This could be due to the increase in traffic on this day which may cause online shoppers to look through their mail more thoroughly. Another reason is that people are buying more on Tuesdays, so they tend to check their email more often to find a new opportunity!
Over the course of 12 months, Tuesdays had an average CTR of 1.10% with an average RPM value of $0.41, while Mondays had only .97% CTR and an average RPM value of $0.33. Tuesdays' average CTR and RPM values are higher than any other day of the week. Mondays are most effective for sales announcements, but Tuesdays win hands down on corporate emails related to timely topics.
Weekends do not perform well because, on an average weekday, people tend to go online more, making Tuesday the best day of the week to send email marketing campaigns.
You must know your customers' buying habits to find out what kind of content they would like to receive from you. If your product or service lends itself to a specific time (for example, webinars), then make sure that you send emails at an appropriate time for other products and services to know when your customers are online and what day of the week attracts the most traffic.
This is why you should send email campaigns on Tuesday: To attract more sales during the week, reach a larger audience throughout each month, and increase your brand awareness with an interest in all things related to timely topics. However, keep in mind that even if Tuesdays have been proven to be the best day for email marketing campaigns, you still need to personalize content based on your target audience's demographics and behavioral cues.
